The process of hydraulic fracturing has been used to increase the productive capabilities of a well for over seventy years. With the advent of horizontal drilling and completions the size of the fracturing treatment has increased greatly. This increased use of fluids and products has caused the public to inquire regarding the use of products and fluids used to stimulate wells. Recognizing this concern the Ground Water Protection Council partnered with the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Committee to create FracFocus the public site to report products used in hydraulic fracturing. For further information on FracFocus please visit the site.
